In July 2003, the weather looked bright to found a Skal Club on Samui. Contacts were established to Skal Thailand National Councillor Malai Sakolviphak and the Presidents of the Skal International Clubs of Pattaya, Bangkok and Phuket, who were invited as guest speakers for several hearings to inform a group of residents interested in Skal about the organisation's goals, intentions & philosophy. As a result, regular monthly meetings were organized by September 03.

On March 20, 2004, SKAL INTERNATIONAL KOH SAMUI was officially installed as Skal Club # 679 with a member line-up of 23. The website skalsamui.org was established, as well. In July 2004, the inaugura- tion party was organized at the Imperial Boathouse Hotel with 120 guests participating.

The mid-year meeting 2004 of the Thai Skal National Board was hosted and organized by Skal Samui. Since 2004, the club was permanently represented at the annual Asian Area Congresses as well as the World Congresses.

Skal Samui's job is to create events to enhance tourism, sponsor students in the hospitality industry, organize to twin with other clubs, socialize and above all: “Doing business among Friends”!
